FAQs What is teak wood? Teak is a close grained hardwood with a high natural oil content. This makes it hard wearing, highly resistant to rotting and almost impervious to the effects of sun, rain and frost. Therefore it is an excellent wood for outdoor uses such as furniture and boats. What grade of teak does Weekender use? Only use Plantation Reforest Teak grown under strict supervision. The features of premium grade teak are a continuity of colour and grain, that comes from the centre core of the tree. Is your furniture assembled? Every item is manufactured using traditional doweled mortice and tenon joinery complemented with solid brass fittings and fixings. We assemble all our furniture here in Rosebud to guarantee the strength and quality of the joints and to make sure the furniture stays solid and sturdy over time. All our pieces are finely sanded and have a smooth silk finish. How do I maintain the teak? Teakwood will naturally weather from golden brown to a silver grey colour. Teak does not require any special maintenance routine apart from occasional cleaning. If you want to cosmetically maintain the golden brown colour, then we recommend oiling your furniture with 'outdoor furniture oil'. Initially several coats are needed, with occasional touch-ups depending on how exposed your furniture is positioned to the elements. |
